Falcons Sweep Harris Stowe on the Road

The Kansas Christian baseball team swept a double header at Harris Stowe on Wednesday afternoon. The two wins improve the Falcons to 8-5 on the season. Kansas Christian has played all 13 games to begin the season against NAIA teams. 

Jacob Strobel took the mound for his first start of the season and tossed four scoreless innings before allowing four runs in the bottom of the fifth. Parker Bryant then entered the game to pitch throwing three scoreless innings in relief. Kris Davis, Jackson Showalter, and Mikal Whisler each had two hits in the win. Showalter drove in three runs and scored twice. Turner also had an RBI. After the Falcons led 4-0, Harris Stowe's four runs in the fifth tied the game.

After seven innings the score remained tied to force extra innings. Brilynn Stults send a two out RBI single to right before Kris Davis hit an RBI single to left, another run scored on an error by the left fielder before Jackson Showalter sent an RBI single to right to give the Falcons an 8-4 lead which would be the final score. 

In the second game, Grant Claycomb started on the mound. Claycomb went four innings and allowed just two runs, one earned. Logan Wallace pitched one inning in relief allowing a two run homer to Harris Stowe but maintaining a 5-4 lead for the Falcons after five innings of play. Tommy Thomas came in for the final two inings retiring every batter he faced to preserve the 5-4 win for the Falcons. Mikal Whisler had a two RBI single. Ben Shively doubled and also had an RBI. Brey Turner had an RBI single as well. 

The Falcons now have a week off before heading to Florida for a six game road trip March 9-11 in the RussMatt Invitational.
