Baseball Sweeps Ecclesia to Open Conference Play

In their first year in the Central Southwest Conference for baseball, the Falcons swept their first two conference games hosting Ecclesia on Wednesday at the Kansas City Urban Youth Academy. The Falcons are now 12-9 on the season. 

The Falcons held Ecclesia scoreless in the first before Chris Hunter led off the game with a solo home run to left field. The Falcons went on to score two runs in the first, a run in the second, and five in the third to lead 8-4 after three innings. Ecclesia rallied to take a 9-8 lead headed into the bottom of the seventh inning. Jabari Walker scored the tying run when Ecclesia misplayed Jackson Showlater's ground ball to second. A walk off sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth from Jesus Reyes won the game for the Falcons 10-9. 

Reyes had two hits and scored two runs. Chris Hunter and Kris Davis finished with two hits as well. Ben Shively hit a two-RBI double. Jackson Showalter, Stay'Jawn Hunter, and Mikal Whisler each doubled as well. Emmett Lafleur started on the mound, but Parker Bryant earned the win in relief. Bryant tossed 2.2 innings allowing no runs on three hits while striking out three and walking zero. 

Jacob Strobel took the mound in game two tossing five innings and earning the win. Tommy Thomas pitched an inning in relief and Parker Bryant earned the save pitching a scoreless seventh. The Falcons scored three runs in the first, two in the second and added a run in the fourth and sixth inning on their way to a 7-5 win. 

Chris Hunter had two hits including a double to go with two runs scored. Jesus Reyes had two hits, one of them being a two-RBI triple. Stay'Jawn Hunter had an RBI double and scored a run. Abram Stewart and Mikal Whisler each had a hit as well. 

The Falcons complete the four game series with Ecclesia when they travel to Springdale, AR for a double header at 1pm.
