A Late Comeback by Kansas Christian Almost Foils Baker University's Win.
Kansas Christian could not buy an out in the first inning. The Falcons gave up 6-walks in the first inning, resulting in 6-runs in the first inning. After the first inning, Baker put up 4-more runs in the next 5-innings. This would give the Wildcats a 10-0 run lead going into the 7th-inning.
The Falcons would finally get on the board with a Jacob Strobel single to left field scoring Cerron Bryant. Then, in the 8th inning, Kansas Chrsitian would put 3-more on the board on a no-doubting 3-run bomb to left field by Marcos Franjul. The 9th inning came around and the Falcons were down 6-runs. Brey Turner started off the inning with a walk, then 2-batters later, Ben Shively hit a blast to right field, getting the Falcons within 4-runs, 10-6. Drew Lippold singled, Chris Hunter walked, this put two-on base with Manny Valenzuela and Franjul coming up to the plate.
With 1-out, the Falcons were looking to tie the game up 10-10, especially with their two big boppers coming to the plate. Valenzuela struck out on a 2-2 count and Franjul struck out looking to the end of the game. Kansas Christian might of came up short, but to not give up and fight to get back in the game should show you something about their character. Franjul hit his 6th homerun on the season and drove in 32nd, 33rd & 34th RBI on the season. Shively hit his first home run on the season.
The Falcons will take on the Tigers of Champion Christian on April 19th & 20th.
