The Kansas Christian men's basketball team opened their season 2-0 winning both of their official games and dropping two exhibitions in their opening week.
In the first game of the 2022-23 season, the Falcons cruised to a 113-81 win over Union College in Lincoln, NE. The Falcons scored 62 first half points and broke the century mark offensively in just their first game. Jamal Clark paced the offense with a team high 24 points. Jay Washington added 22 of his own. Elazar Conley finished with 19 points and Boog Lewis finished with 12.
Two days later, the Falcons found themselves at the Paycom Center, home of the Oklahoma City Thunder. They would take on Mid-America Christian there in an exhibition game. The Falcons went step for step against the NAIA program from the Sooner Athletic Conference, but eventually fell 107-98. Jamal Clark went for 40 points and nine rebounds, both were game highs. Boog Lewis had 13 points and five rebounds. Elazar Conley scored 12 points and had five rebounds. Jay Washington dished out six assists and scored 13 points.
The Falcons drove back from Oklahoma City on Friday to take on Ottawa University in another exhibition game at the Braves Booster Classic. Ottawa would catch fire from three point range making 17 three point shots in the game as they beat the Falcons 118-82. Jamal Clark and Boog Lewis each scored 16 points in the lsos. Jahlani Blair added 14.
In their final game of the week, the Falcons played in an official game against the University of Saint Mary, another NAIA opponent. Kansas Christian got out to a strong start limiting Saint Mary to just 27 first half points and the Falcons led by nine at halftime. Saint Mary would cut down the deficit before the Falcons made crucial plays down the stretch to hold the Spires off. Jamal Clark led the offense once again scoring 18 points. Clark also had six rebounds. Jahlani Blair finished with 11 points and seven rebounds. Boog Lewis came of the bench to match Clark in points with 18. The Falcons would take the victory 81-73.
The men's basketball team now competes against Baker University in another exhibition match. Baker is an NAIA opponent that competes in the Heart of America Conference. The Falcons tip off in Baldwin City at 7:30pm tonight!
