The Kansas Christian men's basketball team earned the #4 ranking in the NCCAA Division II Coaches Poll before taking on Spurgeon in Cowen Memorial Auditorium on Tuesday night. Unfortunately, the Falcons would fall to Spurgeon 103-83. The loss drops the Falcons to 7-7 on the season.
Spurgeon would get out to an electric start shooting over 70% from the floor for most of the first half. After building a 12-2 lead early on, Spurgeon led Kansas Christian 59-37 at the half. The Falcons held their own in the second half outscoring the Knights 46-44, but it wouldn't be enough to close the gap.
Oscar Traylor led the team in points and rebounds with 17 and six respectively. Malik Martin added 14 points to round out the double digit scorers. Traylor also had five steals. Kansas Christian had a cold night shooting as they finished 45% from the field and 26% from three point range.
The men's basketball team gets back into action next week when they host Union College at 7pm.
