Quick Start for KCC Leads to Central Region Title

The Falcons dominated the paint in the first half, 30-12.  Brandon Anthony led the way with 11-points and Damon Werts added 10-points.  Oscar Traylor was a nuisance for the Barclay Bears with 5-steals leading to (8) fast-break buckets.  Coach Peteet said he didn't think we were playing all that well in the 1st half, but putting up 49-points and shooting 69% from the floor says otherwise.  Of course there is always room for improvement.

The 2nd half was more of the same.  In the first 5-minutes of the 2nd half, Kansas Christian pushed the lead to 25-point lead (64-49).  Seven minutes after that they were up 30-points, 84-54 and never looked back.  All 11-players scored, Damon Werts led the way with 20-points, including 4-others players with at least 10-points.  Kevon Williams had 10-points, Kaiden Hunter had 11-points, Isaac Lane had 13-points & Brandon Anthony had a season high 16-points.  Oscar Traylor filled up the stat sheet in other ways with 5-points, 5-rebounds, 6-assists, 5-steals, 2-blocks and had only 1-turnover.

Kansas Christian finished off the Bears with a 100-79 victory.  This was the 6th time they scored at least 100-points this season.  What's next for Kansas Christian after winning the NCCAA Central Regional?  They will play in the NCCAA DII Men's Basketball National Championship in Minneapolis, MN.  The tournament starts March 14-16.  The seedings have not been determined, yet.  Eight teams make the field.
