Softball Opens Fall Play With Games at Friends Tournament

The Kansas Christian softball team played their first games ever against outside compeition at the Friends Fall Tournament this weekend in Wichita, Kan. The games were counted as JV contests as they were played against two junior colleges: Neosho County Community College and Cowley County Community College. 

In their first game ever, the Falcons earned a 2-1 win over Neosho County Community College. Kenna Ferguson pitched a complete game in the win. Alexis Williams went two for two with a pair of singles and a run scored. Williams played catcher for the Falcons in the first game and caught a runner stealing as well. 

The Falcons would fall 9-4 in the second game against Cowley County Community College. Ari Lopez pitched game two for the Falcons. Cherie Green had a two RBI double. Mikalle Pair had two bunt singles, stole second and stole home with heads up base running. Kaylee Clifton went went one for one and also stole a base. 

The Falcons host Independence Community College for two more JV games on Friday, September 16 at the Kansas City Urban Youth Academy. The games begin at 1pm.
