Falcons Shine at Scottie Classic

Kansas Christian College men's and women's indoor track and field teams made their second trip to Highland, Kan. this year for the 2021 Scottie Classic. Freshman sprinter Ashton Sims continued his strong season with a 5th place finish in the 55m with a prelim time of 8.90s. Sims placed 4th in the 400m with a time of 56.43s and 5th in the long jump with a personal best jump of 19-01.92. Sophomore Kobe Morgan broke his own school record with a time of 1:34.39 in the 600m finishing in 4th place

The best performance of the day for the freshman was turned in by Christian Pineda who qualified for the 2021 NCCAA Indoor Track and Field National Championships in the triple jump with a 2nd place finish in the triple jump with a distance of 39ft 10.74 inches. Coach Keeler said of his performance, "I am happy with Christian's performance today. In the first two years of Kansas Christian's track and field program, Christian has become the second Falcon to qualify in the triple jump. We are building one of the strongest jumping programs in the NCCAA and Christian is the latest standout," Keeler added.

Kansas Christian throwers continued to improve during their first season of competition. Both Hela Arabagali who threw a distance 26ft -03.75 inches and Daria Korovina at 24ft 09.64 inches broke their own school records in the shotput. Coach Keeler said of their performance, "they are both putting in a lot of effort into getting stronger and improving their form."

Due to the cancellation of this year's NCCAA Indoor Track and Field National Championships, the Falcons will compete at the UCM Classic on the 19th of February. This will be the last indoor meet of the year.
