Baseball Sweeps Calvary

The Falcons opened up their three game series against Calvary with a convincing 11-1 victory. A strong start on the mound by Corbin Sprague combined with a consistent set of production at the plate lead to the win. Sprague went seven innings and allowed just one run. Jesus Roman pitched a scoreless inning in relief. Diego Diaz led the offense with three hits and three RBIs. The Flacons finished with 13 hits as a team. Jake Gallway had two hits, one double, scored two runs and had three RBIs. Kale Kocourek also had two hits. 

In game two the offense started a little slower, but heated up with a four run fourth innning as the Falcons powered their way to a 7-3 win. Calvary managed to outhit the Falcons 11-8 but TJ Bratton worked around 11 hits allowed in the game managing to just allow three runs over his six innings pitched. Connor Taylor pitched a scoreless inning in relief. Jake Gallway scored two runs and had two hits. Connor Taylor drove in two runs and had two hits. Denzel Rincon, Peyton Ropers, and Galloway each had doubles. 

In the series finale, the Falcons jumped out to a 9-0 lead. The entire nine man lineup reached the first time through the order for Kansas Christian and 15 batters total went to the plate in the inning. The big inning would be the only runs the Falcons get in the game, however. Calvary plated four runs in the sixth inning to make the score 9-6 but that would hold up as the final. Jake Galloway again had two hits and scored a run while also getting two RBIs. Tommy Thomas went 5.1 innings and allowed six runs, four earned. He did not walk or strikeout a batter. Denver Smith entered in relief to escape the jam in the sixth. Connor Taylor closed the game out earning the save.
