Men's Basketball Earns #2 Ranking, Tops Fort Lauderdale

The Kansas Christian men's basketball team has earned the #2 spot in the first NCCAA Division II Top 10 Rankings for the 2022-23 season. The Falcons also earned an 88-87 victory over Fort Lauderdale as part of their three game trip to Florida last week.

The Falcons dug out of a big hole after trailing by 15 at halftime. Kansas Christian clawed their way back into the game in the second half and had the game tied with just over 11 minutes left to play. Fort Lauderdale pulled back out to a nine  point lead with 3:46 on the clock. The Falcons then went on a 7-0 run and traded buckets over the final minutes. Trailing by one in the closing seconds of the game, Jay Washington missed a jumper but Elazar Conley got the rebound and made the putback to give the Falcons the win.

Conley scored a team high 22 points and Washington added 20 of his own. Jamal Clark scored 19 points and matched Conley on rebounds with seven each. Boog Lewis scored nine points and grabbed nine rebounds. Fernando Carvalho gave the Falcons 12 points off the bench.

The Falcons finish their trip with an exhibition game against St. Thomas before returning home.
