Falcons Beat Barclay, James Lewis Honored

The Kansas Christian men's basketball team hosted Barclay on Saturday afternoon in Cowen Memorial Auditorium looking for their second win of the week in as many games. After a strong start for the Falcons they took a seven point lead into halftime on the back of James Lewis who hit seven first half threes including a 55 foot buzzer beater to end the half that hit nothing but net.

Barclay would come out in the second half and chip away at the Falcons before going on a run that left Kansas Christian trailing by seven points with five minutes left in the game. Lewis cut into that deficit with a three after a Falcon timeout.  A few minutes later Damon Werts layed in a basket to give the Falcons a brief lead, but James Lewis runner in the middle of the lane gave the Falcons the lead for good with 1:46 on the clock. Kenneth Hunter later  slammed home an exclamation point as the Falcons closed out the game with an 86-79 victory.

Lock down defense in the final minutes played a vital part in the win for Kansas Christian. The Falcons swiped four steals and blocked a shot while forcing five total turnovers all in the final five minutes.

James Lewis scored 32 points making eight threes and grabbing five steals in the win. For his performance against Barclay and Ecclesia, he earned NCCAA Division I Men's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week!

The men's basketball team looks to keep the momentum going on Saturday when they host Trinity Bible College at 1pm in Cowen Memorial Auditorium.
