Werts Powers Falcons Past Trinity Bible College

The Kansas Christian College men's basketball team won their third straight game on Saturday afternoon in Cowen Memorial Auditorium. Trinity Bible College entered the Falcons Nest and saw Kansas Christian take a 104-80 win. Five players scored in double figures for the Falcons leading to one of their more lopsided victories of the season.

Kansas Christian opened up the first half scoring the first five points of the game before Trinity Bible College scored the next seven points to put the Falcons behind, and that set the stage for a back and forth first half that saw six lead changes. However, the Falcons would find their groove in the closing minutes of the half pulling out to an 11 point lead at one point but led by just six points going into halftime.

In the second half the Falcons never trailed. Trinity Bible College would trim the deficit to four points and one point in the opening minutes before Kansas Christian pulled back out to a double digit lead that only widened as the game progressed.

Damon Werts narrowly missed a triple-double in the win. Werts scored 27 points, grabbed 13 rebounds, dished out nine assists, grbbed five steals, and blocked a shot for the Falcons. Amourie Dunn sank three shots from outside the arc and went six for eight at the free throw line finishing with 21 points. James Lewis added 17 points and Kenneth Hunter had 14 points to round out the double digit scorers. Hunter also had nine rebounds.

Three games remain in the regular season for Kansas Christian before they head into postseason play in the Central Region Tournament. The men's basketball team will play next at Cavlary on Tuesday, February 10. Tipoff for the men's game is scheduled for 7pm.
