Falcons Topped in Season Opener at Bethany

The Kansas Christian men's soccer team dropped their first match of the season in an NAIA matchup at Bethany College on Tuesday night. The Falcons would fall 6-0. Kansas Christian faces an NAIA heavy schedule in the early part of the season with four of their first seven games coming against NAIA opponents.

Bethany would control the match getting a first half goal and taking a 1-0 lead into halftime. The Falcons were still in the game headed into the second half, but five second half goals from Bethany would put the match out of reach. The Swedes outshot the Falcons and had more corner kicks in the win. The Falcons did get off four shots in the loss with three of them coming on goal.

Fred Muganza, Ombeni Mubengwa, and Riuben Basubeche each had a shot on goal. Roberto Mugabe had one shot as well. Joao dos Reis played the entire game in goal making three saves and allowing six goals.

The men's soccer team now turns their attention to the next match which will be the home opener at Leo Alvey Park in Kansas City, KS on Saturday, September 3 at 2pm. The Falcons will host Barclay College in an NCCAA Southwest Regional Matchup.
