Kansas Christian men's soccer took on NCAA Division III opponent Westminster on Friday night in Fulton, Mo. It was the second match of the year for the Falcons.
Bouncing back from a tough opening loss to Park University, Kansas Christian College came out and took a 1-0 lead in the 29th minute. Javier Sanchez netted a penalty kick to give the Falcons the lead. The Falcons held on for a 1-0 lead at halftime. For the game, William Derbyshire made eight saves and Javier Sanchez got off four shots for Kansas Christian.
Westminster was able to deploy many subs as they used 25 different players in the game while the Falcons were only able to use 12 total men in the match on their side. About eight minutes into the second half Westminster netter a goal to tie it and less than two and a half minutes later another Westminster goal gave them the lead over the Falcons. The lead would remain to close the game with the Falcons falling 2-1.
