A pair of games over the weekend ended with the Falcons getting a win and a loss as they traveled to Iowa to take on William Penn and Faith Baptist Bible College. The Falcons faced a tough challenge taking on William Penn who competes in the NAIA as a member of the Heart of America Conference.
William Penn jumped out to an 11-2 lead early on and never looked back as they took down the Falcons 113-73. James Lewis led the Falcons in scoring with 20 points and Amouri Dunn added 17. Darieon Carter scored 10 points off the bench. Damon Werts had nine points and eight rebounds in the loss.
Kansas Christian would bounce back on day two as they returned to NCCAA play with a game against Faith Baptist Bible College. After a tightly contested first half that ended with the Falcons trailing by one, Faith Baptist Bible extended out to a 13 point lead in the second half. Chipping away, the Falcons finally took the lead on a three from James Lewis with just over five minutes to play eventually claiming an 87-79 victory.
Amouri Dunn paced the Falcons with a season high 30 points. Dunn also had eight assists. Damon Werts finished with a double-double behind 28 points and 11 rebounds while also dishing out six assists. James Lewis also scored in double figures getting 15 points in the win.
The men's basketball team returns to play in an exhibition on Wednesday at Benedictine in Atchison, Kan. at 7pm.
